Our guest speaker, Aubrey Noronha will discuss issues like loneliness, absenteeism and emotional disconnection affecting the mental health of students and will share hopeful insights and practical tools to help parents and guardians stay close and connected with their children while confidently navigating these challenges together.

WHAT DOES A HOST FAMILY DO?

The relationship you build between your family and the student you host will create memories that last a lifetime. Being a host family is rewarding and has numerous benefits:

Build lifelong, cross-cultural friendships
Students bring an infectious enthusiasm for Canada
International study programs help the community

Host families help students integrate into Canadian culture. You will be compensated for welcoming an international student into your home with a monthly stipend that more than covers the student's expenses.

Important Graduation Information for Grade 12's

Prom 2026

This year our grade 12 students and a guest are invited to the Prom on Thursday, June 4th. It will be held at the Infinity Centre (901 Gibford Dr). Cocktails are from 5:00-6:00 pm and a buffet dinner will begin at 6:00 pm followed by dancing until 10:00 pm. Tickets for St. Joseph grads will be $135 and guests will be $140. Tickets will be on sale from April 29th - May 13th on SchoolCashOnline. After May 13th, ALL tickets will increase to $145 until May 20th. There will be NO tickets available after May 20th. Community Service Hours must be completed ahead of purchasing tickets. All students and guests will be required to complete a Prom contract. All bags/coats will be checked upon entry by security; there are no in/out privileges.

Practicing Lockdowns as a School Community

Please be aware that, each year, all OCSB schools practice Safe Schools procedures, including practicing lockdown drills. An emergency situation may develop within the school that prevents the safe and immediate evacuation of students and staff. We may need, for example, to allow police to move through the building without students in the halls. In such times, schools may initiate either a ‘secure school’ or a ‘school lockdown’ protocol. We will review these expectations in the coming weeks with students and provide direction when practicing.

We are excited to share that registration is now open for our Summer School 2026 Program! This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to continue learning during the summer months either in person or online!What You Need to Know!
When: July 2 – July 23rd, 2026
Who Can Attend: Any student from any school board can join us. You do not need to be an OCSB student to participate.

Final Assessments – Exams and RSTs

Grade 9 - 12 students’ examinations and Rich Summative Tasks (RSTs) WILL NOT be rescheduled for holiday or travel convenience, and all appointments should be scheduled so as not to conflict with exams and RSTs. If a medical problem arises, a Vice Principal must be contacted prior to the exam or RST.

Students and Parents/Guardians can refer to the OCSB website for the Grade 9 - 12 calendar. These calendars identify the first and last day of school, PD days, Statutory Holidays, Board Holidays, and High School exams. As a general rule, it is prudent to avoid any planned student absences during the months of January and June, as this is when RSTs and exams are scheduled.
