Education Week - School Council hosts Screenagers Documentary

Young people spend an average of 6.5 hours a day on cell phones, computers and other devices. That doesn't include the time they use screens for school and homework. 'Screenagers: How Much Screen Time is Healthy?' is a documentary that explores how much screen time is too much.  Screenagers explores parental struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction and offers solutions to help kids find balance.  

Screening Times:
Thursday, May 4th
 All gr. 7/8 students will view during period 5/6 in the caf/gym
 Parents to view in the evening.  Doors open at 6:30, film at 7:00
 Opening Remarks by Media Smarts representative or Rideauwood Counsellor(TDB)

Friday, May 5th 
Gr. 9/11 to view period 1 in Caf/Gym
Gr. 10/12 to view period 2 in Caf/Gym

Greenbank Road Closure

 - Due to road construction Greenbank Road will be closed between Cambrian Road and Jockvale Road just north of the intersection with Half Moon Bay Road.  The road will be closed from Monday, May 1st until Friday June 2nd.  Traffic access to St. Joseph High School will only be available from the north, i.e. from Greenbank at Jockvale.  Pedestrian access to/from St. Joseph HS  from the south will be maintained during construction with a temporary sidewalk (safely separated from the construction zone).

Parent Workshop on Mental Health -

 Recognizing and supporting the mental health needs of our children and youth.  April 27, 2017 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm, Immaculata High School.  CSPA is hosting this session, which will explore the concepts of “normal stress” and the “continuum of mental health” along with the signs and symptoms of potential mental health issues in children and youth.  When and where to access services and supports for mental health within our community will be discussed.  Strategies to foster resilience in our children and youth will be shared.  Presenter:  Dr. Elizabeth Paquette.  

St. Joseph Jagwear

 -  Our  Jagwear is once again on sale at St. Joe's. Attached is our flyer with all that we have to offer. If you would like your son/daughter to try on some samples for sizes, please have them come down to the tuck shop during high school or 7/8 lunch. We will also be in the tuck shop during High School parent teacher interviews on Thursday April 27th. If you have any questions you can swing by my desk during interviews if you like. Forms and money need to be in by the end of the day on Friday  April 28th

St. Joseph High School presents

The Curious Savage!! The high school production is running on Thursday April 20th and Friday April 21st at 7:00 pm. This year’s play is a comedy called The Curious Savage, which takes place during the early 1950s in a mental health facility. It is here where the lead character, Mrs. Savage, meets the wonderful and whimsical, but also tragic residents of the ward. Tickets will be sold at lunch and at the door.
